Now is an exciting time in Marriage and Couples Counseling. Current research is validating how attachment issues are an important focus in therapy I come from a Family Systems background focusing on strength-based narratives that build on resiliency. My website explains a small part of my own family history that continues to give me hope; as well as; offers hope to others. I hope that you will check it out!!
I enjoy seeing couples both together and individually in order to help them understand the patterns, triggers and dynamics of their relationship. As couples learn how past trauma or unfinished business from prior relationships ( for example, a prior marriage and divorce) impact their current relationship) they can learn to make healthier choices in their best interest, as a couple/partnership.
Many couples continue to have adjustment issues related to families wanting validation from their partners that they matter and are a priority. Susan Johnson's question of "Are you there for me?" resonates so frequently with couples. While men "want to fix it" and women simply "want to be heard" frequently focusing on lowering reactivity, increasing mindfulness, building resiliency by creating a safe place both within and outside the office encourages couples to trust themselves and clarity their needs.
