I decided to become a marriage and family therapist because I enjoy exploring things from a systems view. Relational therapy, isn't just treating the person - even if only a single person is in therapy - it is the set of relationships and family of origin in which the person is imbedded.
What I enjoy most about working with couples is witnessing their individualized personal growth, honing in on aspects of self awareness, which shift and change the dynamic of the relationship as a whole. I enjoy watching the shift from fear to joy as couples unravel their raw emotions within a safe collaborative space.
I have experience working with, but not limited to, infidelity, lack of physical or emotional intimacy, separation or divorce, poor communication, parenting, abusive or other destructive relationships,
Issues that often come up in therapy included: wanting the other partner to change, lack of awareness of ones role, secrets, poor following through, not trusting the process and avoiding issues.
