The reason I chose to specialize in marriage and couples counseling is….:

It takes a special kind of bravery to ask for help. Especially if you have never been in counseling before. I specialize in marriage and couples counseling because I know it can really work! I feel honored every day I teach and coach couples how to show up and truly see each other. Often, it just takes a bit of skill-building to learn how to empathize and share important parts of ourselves.

I also love seeing how these new ways of thinking and acting with each other can trickle down to a couple's kids, teens and families.

What you most enjoy about working with couples is….:

I enjoy watching how learning a new, positive approach can really shift things for the couples I work with. There will always be bumps in the road but having the tools to navigate them together is vital and a joy to see in action.

Are there kinds of couples or issues that you work with a lot?:

I work with LGBTQ and heterosexual couples and families. Most couples who contact me are also parents who have busy lives balancing home, work and family. Often, they are starting to feel disconnected from each other or they may already feel a sense of loss or that something is missing lately. These folks are ready to work to jump-start their relationship by learning new skills such as Gottman method, self-compassion, self-care and more.
The way I see it, we each have our own operating system and couples therapy is a terrific way to build a bridge between the two systems.

I help couples learn how to express their feelings effectively and listen with empathy so that connection flourishes and relationships feel healthy again.

Because I am a parent myself and I work with parents, I am flexible with scheduling. Often, couples will complete a piece of work with me and come back a while later for a "tune-up." We can design a way to make couples therapy work for you, your partner and your busy lives.

What are the steps to becoming a client in my practice?:

Just email, call or text so we can get started! I offer a complimentary phone consultation so you can give me a sense of what's happening and I can let you know how I can help.
I am always happy to make referrals to therapists who may be a better fit for you for any reason.
