The reason I chose to specialize in marriage and couples counseling is….:

I believe in marriage! It is the unique place where we learn about who we are and how to truly love another person. When we come out to the other side of understanding our conflicts we can discover what it means to love and be loved by another unconditionally. This is something we are all truly seeking and needing at our core.

What you most enjoy about working with couples is….:

I enjoy getting to know couples, understanding each one's perspective and helping them to get to a place of meaningful connection. I enjoy seeing the relief that couples express when they realize that couple therapy is not about finding out who is at fault, but about learning each other's reactions and the deeper meanings that drive them. It gives me great joy to help couples develop secure life-long attachment bonds.

Are there kinds of couples or issues that you work with a lot?:

Couples often come in to my office stating they are having problems with communication. Connecting couples in communication is frequently so much more simple than couples expect through the use of Emotionally Focused Therapy. Other couples I meet have trauma in their history-whether it is from growing up in an alcoholic home or watching their parents get divorced, or suffering past abuse, etc. Couples are pleased to learn how to become an agent of healing to each other instead of painfully rubbing each others' raw spots.

What are the steps to becoming a client in my practice?:

Give me a call at 303-521-0653 for a free 10 minute consult to see if we would be a good fit. That is the quickest way to reach me. You could also email an inquiry to julie@heart-therapy.org.
