When I was a tween in sleep away camp in the early 1980s, I sent a letter home to my parents astonished at the fact that of all of my bunk mates, I had the only parents who were not divorced. This stuck with me as I grew and when I studied Psychology, I knew it was missing something....the impact of relationships on our lives, our well being and our mental health. That led me to specialize in Marriage and Family Therapy where I felt I could have a greater positive impact with the people I worked with. I specialized in couples counseling because I believe couples are the heart of the family, our communities and our society as a whole. Strong couples, make strong families, strong communities and a strong society.
We all want to be seen, heard and understood. I most enjoy the light bulb moment that occurs when two people who have felt so disconnected realize that their partner really gets it and understands how they feel.
We work a lot with infidelity, emotional affairs, communication problems, family conflict and because we are in the DC area, we really understand the stress on Government employees or contractors who have high level clearances.
