The reason I chose to specialize in marriage and couples counseling is….:

We are relational creatures at our core and our experiences out in the world are strengthened or challenged based on our core, foundational relationships. For most adults, that core relationship is with their spouse/partner. So supporting and strengthening that relationship often positively impacts most relationships that the couple has together and as individuals.

What you most enjoy about working with couples is….:

In my private practice (see website) I specialize in equine assisted couples therapy. When couples can experience changes in their relationship actively and practically together with the horses and I can witness that, its exciting and humbling at the same time.

Are there kinds of couples or issues that you work with a lot?:

My experience with couples is pretty broad but often I find that traumatizing moments from the past emerge as key factors in how a couple can grow. Those past experiences often show up as anger, fear, or even what some would call resistance. I view it as self protection and a need to build understanding, context, compassion and trust. Because you will be outside working with horses, you have to enjoy the outdoors and don't mind some horse kisses!

What are the steps to becoming a client in my practice?:

I can usually schedule a first session within a week or so, depending on matching availability. I try to respond within 24 hours except on the weekend as we all need a little down time!
