As I began studying different types of counseling as an undergraduate, I quickly recognized that what I found the most meaningful and the approach that best fit with my perspective was Marriage and Family Therapy. I have enjoyed worked with couples in various aspects of life and life challenges through the years. Currently, in addition to my counseling services, I have started focusing on offering marriage enhancement groups due to my desire to increase opportunities for couples to strengthen their marriage before they reach a marital crisis.
While couples work is difficult, it provides the most rewarding and, I believe, sustaining results. As a couple learns to work together, they can become prepared to have lasting benefits from counseling where they have learned how to work together without the ongoing need for a therapist.
I have worked with couples who are struggling with general marital problems (couples commonly refer to this situation as "communication problems"), infidelity issues (including sexual or pornography addiction), infertility issues, and divorce prevention. I also love working with couples in a preventative approach, including pre-marital counseling and marriage enhancement workshops.
I am currently offering Gottman 7 Principles Marriage Workshops in the Idaho Falls area. For details about the next workshop, and to register, go to my website: www.TetonMarriageWorkshops.com/workshop. For counseling services, I work at LDS Family Services where couples need a referral from their LDS Church leader (a bishop or stake president would call to make a referral, and then the couple can call to set up an appointment).
